Strike rate of 181 in first 4 matches, now Dhruv Jurel is slow, RR’s problems increased

Dhruv Jurel had created a stir at the beginning of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. He played an inning of 75 runs in 42 balls in his second match of the season. After this, Jurel scored unbeaten 81 runs in 43 balls against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). In this match, Vaibhav Suryavanshi stole the show by playing an innings of 78 runs in 26 balls but it was Jurel who stood till the end and took Rajasthan Royals to the threshold of victory.

Jurel had scored 176 runs at a strike rate of 181.44 in the first 4 matches of IPL 2026 and Rajasthan Royals had won all four of these matches. It seemed that this season was going to be in Jurel’s name but after this there was a sudden decline in his form. Jurel has been able to score only 72 runs in the next 5 matches. During this period his strike rate has been 110.77. Meanwhile, Jurel has also been out twice for a duck.

Scored 16 runs in 20 balls in a big run chase.

Jurel played an inning of 51 runs in 35 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad on 25 April. He showed signs of returning to form but in the very next match he was seen struggling once again. In the chase of 223 runs against Punjab Kings, he could score only 16 runs in 20 balls. Rajasthan Royals won this match but Jurel’s form has increased his concern.

Captain Riyan Parag is already struggling with poor form. In the 9 matches played so far, he has been able to score only 117 runs at an average of 14.62 and strike rate of 124.46. As long as Jurel was batting with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Parag was not feeling the shortage, but now after Jurel was not getting runs, the pressure on Parag has also increased. Rajasthan Royals will hope for good performance from their number-3 and number-4 in the last phase of the season, otherwise their boat may waver.
