Strong attack by Sonbhadra police, dominance proved costly in overloading case

As part of the campaign being run by Superintendent of Police Abhishek Verma against illegal mining and transportation in the district, effective action was taken by Robertsganj police station under the guidance of Additional Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) Anil Kumar and supervision of Area Officer City Randhir Mishra.

On 28.03.2026, at around 10:00 pm, persons traveling in a white Scorpio vehicle (UP64AQ4787) misbehaved with the officers/employees engaged in checking, obstructed the government work and threatened them while pressurizing them to leave the overloaded vehicles.

On receiving the information, Robertsganj police station took immediate action and stopped the said vehicle and arrested 04 accused from the spot, while one accused escaped from the spot.

In this regard, necessary legal action is being taken by registering a case under FIR No. 238/2026 Section 3(5), 121(1), 351(2) BNS at Police Station Robertsganj. Also the used Scorpio vehicle has been seized.

The arrested accused are Jaidev Pandey, son of Arvind Pandey, resident of Prabhapuram, police station Robertsganj, district Sonbhadra, Himanshu son of Ashok, resident of Pusauli, police station Robertsganj, district Sonbhadra, Vikas Singh son of Rajkumar Singh, resident of Pakri, police station Robertsganj, district Sonbhadra, Bablu Shukla son of Sudarshan Shukla, resident of Nai Bazaar, police station Robertsganj, district Sonbhadra.

Absconding accused Rahul Tiwari son of Pramod Tiwari, resident (address unknown)

In the same sequence, during checking of vehicle number UP64BT2221 laden with minerals near Lodhi Toll Plaza on 28.03.2026 at around 11:15 pm, the vehicle was found overloaded.

Vehicle owner Vinod Kumar Singh came to the spot in a Scorpio vehicle (UP64AS2100) and created obstruction in the government work by abusing the officials/employees of the mining department. In the said case, a case was registered at Police Station Robertsganj under FIR No. 239/2026 Section 121(1), 352 BNS and the vehicle owner Vinod Kumar Singh was arrested and the Scorpio used in the incident was seized. The vehicle (UP64AS2100) has also been seized.

Arrested accused Vinod Kumar Singh (vehicle owner), son of Kamla Prasad Singh, resident of village Bahuar, police station Robertsganj, district Sonbhadra, aged about 38 years. The police team that made the arrest/seizure mainly included Inspector in-charge Ram Swaroop Verma, police station Robertsganj, district Sonbhadra, Inspector Dinanath, Inspector General Nandlal, Inspector General Jairam Rai, Officer Ramesh Kumar, Officer Rupesh Kumar.

The district police has clarified that strict legal action will continue against those involved in creating obstruction in government work, misbehaving with officers/employees and those involved in illegal mining/overloading.
