These tremors, which occurred around 1:30 in the afternoon, created panic among the people. People sitting in homes and offices got scared and immediately came out.

Union Minister also moved during the speech

Union Minister of State Sukanta Majumdar was addressing a public meeting at the time of the earthquake. Suddenly he felt a vibration on the stage and he also felt the shock.

However, he appealed to the people to maintain peace and said that there is no need to panic. But due to strong tremors many people got scared and stood in the open field.

The epicenter of the earthquake was in Bangladesh

According to the information, the epicenter of the earthquake was in Satkhira area of ​​Bangladesh, which falls in Khulna division. It was recorded about 35 kilometers below the earth’s surface.

Although no major loss of life or property was reported, shaking of buildings was seen in Salt Lake and surrounding areas. People stood on the streets for a long time.

Eyewitnesses told the story of terror

Tremors felt in Sikkim also in the morning

On the same day, earthquake tremors were also felt in Sikkim at around 4:10 am. The intensity there was recorded at 3.7. There were reports of cracks in the roofs of some schools in Tashidong area.
