New Delhi. Amidst the ongoing students’ protest at Jantar Mantar, many misleading and false posts are going viral on social media. Today Delhi Police held a press conference regarding this and presented its stand. Delhi Police says that there are many misleading news on social media. Misleading posts have been shared. DCP Central Rohit Rajbir Singh said that, more than 400 handles of fake news have been identified and those accounts have been blocked. An attempt was made to mislead people by editing the statements of many officials on these accounts and manipulating the visual content.
Not only this, a fake video of Sonam Wangchuk has also surfaced through these accounts. No one died on 20 July. False news about army deployment was spread through this. False claim of woman’s death was made. He said that it is very important to verify the news. Fake accounts were created from Pakistan. Our investigation has also revealed that some social media accounts operated from Pakistan are spreading fake content.
Delhi Police said that information goes viral very fast on social media but every post, video or photo is not necessarily correct. It is very important to fact-check any information before trusting it or sharing it further. Delhi Police is also continuously monitoring social media.
