Sub engineer and his partner came running 150 km for 2 lakhs, Lokayukta caught them

Bureau Prayagraj- The process of action against bribe taking officers and employees is continuing in Madhya Pradesh. Almost every other day, somewhere or the other Lokayukta Action is catching corrupt officers and employees red-handed while taking bribes, but despite this, the bribe takers do not seem to be stopping. The latest case is from Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, where a sub engineer and an assistant grade-2 employee posted in Raisen district have been caught red-handed by the team of Bhopal Lokayukta while taking a bribe of Rs 2 lakh.

Jayant Chaturvedi, resident of Kolar area of ​​Bhopal, had filed a complaint in the Lokayukta office against Deputy Engineer (Sub Engineer) Dipanshu Pateria and Assistant Grade-2 employee Shankar Sahu posted in Udaipur Municipal Council of Raisen district. In his complaint, applicant Jayant Chaturvedi had said that he is the director of ‘Naveen Buildcom’ firm. The CC construction work of bus stand and CC road construction work on the main road was done by his firm under Municipal Council Udaipur. For the said work, two security deposits (SD) of the firm were deposited in the Municipal Council, Udaipur. In lieu of releasing these two SDs and issuing experience certificates, a bribe of Rs 5,00,000 is being demanded by Deputy Engineer Dipanshu Pateria and Assistant Grade-2 Shankar Sahu posted in Municipal Council, Udaipur.

The Lokayukta team investigated the complaint and after finding the complaint to be true, sent the applicant Jayant Chaturvedi to the bribe taking sub engineer and employee to pay Rs 2 lakh as the first installment of bribe. To take the bribe amount, bribe taker Sub Engineer Dipanshu Pateria and Assistant Grade-2 employee Shankar Sahu reached Bhopal, 150 km away from Udaipura. As soon as the bribe takers took Rs 2 lakh from the applicant in front of Hawkers Corner, near Directorate of Urban Administration and Development, in Bhopal, the team of Lokayukta present in plain clothes caught both of them red-handed. Legal action has been taken by registering a case against the accused under Section 7, 12 of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 (Amendment 2018) and Section 61 of the Indian Justice Code 2023.
