Such buses from Agra to Tundla-Fatehabad and Fatehpur Sikri also, gift of 100 e-buses.
The administration has taken steps towards making public transport in Agra more accessible and pollution free. 100 new air-conditioned (AC) electric buses are soon going to be added to the city’s e-bus fleet. The administration has received approval for this.
The scope of new e-buses will not be limited to the city but will be run in rural areas. According to the plan, these buses will be operated mainly on Tundla, Fatehabad Road, Fatehpur Sikri Road and other rural routes connected to the city. As the number of buses increases, a new depot will be required for their maintenance and charging.
Agra-Mathura City Transport Service CEO and ADM City Yamunadhar Chauhan said that a survey of land has been done near Kuberpur and Mehtab Bagh for the new depot.
The location of the depot will be finalized soon. Apart from this, survey work is also going on to decide the routes and fares on various routes. According to ADM City, these 100 new buses will be hi-tech and equipped with modern facilities. These are divided into two categories according to the convenience of the passengers and the requirement of the route. There will be 50 seven meter long buses and 50 nine meter long buses.
The city will get relief from traffic jam
Presently 100 e-buses are being operated on various major routes of the city including MG Road. After getting 100 new buses, the total number of e-buses will become 200. The administration believes that this step will give a huge boost to public transport, which will reduce the pressure of private vehicles on the roads and people will get relief from jams to a great extent.
