The leaves of Patharchatta are slightly thick and juicy in appearance. Its taste is slightly sour and salty. It has some special medicinal properties which gradually break down the hard stones (calcium oxalate) deposited in the kidney and turn them into powder or small particles.
When they break, they are easily excreted from the body through urine. Not only this, it also provides great relief in the problem of prostate gland and burning sensation during urination.

It is very simple to use. You don’t have to make any elaborate recipe. Here are the two most effective methods:
1. The easiest way: chew and eat
If your stones are in the early stages or are small:
- Wake up in the morning and freshen up.
- Take 2 medium sized leaves of Patharchatta and wash them thoroughly.
- Eat them by chewing them on an empty stomach.
- On top of that, drink a glass of lukewarm water.
- Tip: Its taste is sour, so there is not much problem in eating it.
2. If chewing becomes difficult: By making juice.
Some people do not like to eat the leaves directly, they can adopt this method:
- Grind 2-3 leaves and extract one spoon juice.
- Add a pinch of ‘Saunth powder’ (dry ginger) to this juice.
- Drink it and drink water. It also provides great relief from stomach ache.
3. With black pepper (old recipe)
In the villages, elders often advise that by grinding 1-2 grains of black pepper and a little sugar candy mixed with Patharchatta leaves and drinking it, the stones come out quickly.
