Sukhbir Badal started making promises like Kejriwal, will he be able to do wonders in Punjab?

Shiromani Akali Dal, the party which has been in power in Punjab for many years, has started preparations for the 2027 elections. The party has planned that this year before Baisakhi, 40 rallies will be held under the leadership of party president Sukhbir Singh Badal. Through these rallies, efforts are being made to regain the lost political ground in Punjab. In a rally, Sukhbir Badal made many promises to the people of Punjab. During this period, he also made many promises for which he earlier criticized Kejriwal and Aam Aadmi Party.

In Punjab, Aam Aadmi Party was criticized because the party had promised to provide many things for free or at low cost. Now, like Aam Aadmi Party and Kejriwal, SAD chief Sukhbir Badal is also making similar announcements. In this he made many promises like pulses, flour at low rates, free tube wells to farmers, tractors at low rates. Along with this, he also talked about imposing a condition of providing 75 percent employment to the people of Punjab in the private sector.

What promises were made?

• Shagun of Rs 1 lakh will be given on the marriage of daughters.
• Elderly people and widows will get a pension of Rs 3100 per month.
• Flour will be available at the rate of Rs 4 per kg and pulses at the rate of Rs 20 per kg.
• As soon as the government is formed, everyone will be given tube well connections within a week.
• Permanent dams will be built so that the problem of floods can be eliminated.
• Raw land will be converted into permanent land, that is, those who till the land will get ownership rights.
• In cases of joint land, there will be free distribution.
• Youth will be given interest-free loans up to Rs 10 lakh so that they can start their own work.
• Needy and meritorious students will be given free education.
• A world class skills university will be created.
• Medical colleges, veterinary colleges and engineering colleges will be opened in every district.
• It will be mandatory for all new industries to provide employment to 75 percent Punjabi youth.
• Pathankot will be made the first Hills Tourism Hub of Punjab.
• Only Punjabis will have the right to buy land and get government jobs.
• Gangsters and drug mafia will be eliminated with strict laws, their properties will also be auctioned.
• The World Kabaddi Cup will be restarted and the Wrestling World Cup will also start.
• Animal fairs, Marwari horse races, dog races and pigeon racing will be promoted.

Preparation for 2027 begins

Shiromani Akali Dal has already sounded the election bugle for the 2027 assembly elections. In this context, the party held its first rally on 17 February, in which Sukhbir Badal made many promises to the public. The party has planned 40 rallies before Baisakhi. The issues of Punjab will be raised in these rallies and the party will present its agenda before the public for the 2027 elections. The party has named this campaign ‘Save Punjab, Bring Sardar Sukhbir Singh Badal Campaign’. Under this campaign, the party will organize rallies across Punjab.
