Sukhoi fighter plane missing after taking off in Assam, Air Force team sent
A Sukhoi 30 MKI fighter plane of the Indian Air Force disappeared after losing contact with radar in Assam. An Air Force team has been sent to locate the aircraft. Defense PRO based in Guwahati shared this information.
According to media reports, the aircraft had taken off from Jorhat in Assam. Smoke was seen rising in the hilly area near Karbi Anglong district in the evening. However, it is not yet clear what was causing the smoke to rise.

Air Force team was sent to the spot. According to local people, a big explosion was heard at around 7.30 pm. After this, smoke was seen rising between the hills. On the other hand, the Indian Air Force said that the aircraft had taken off from Jorhat in Assam and was last contacted at 7:42 pm. Further information is being ascertained. Search and rescue mission has been started.
According to officials, a Sukhoi 30 MKI fighter jet of the Indian Air Force went missing shortly after take off. Defense PRO Lieutenant Colonel Mahendra Rawat says that search and rescue operation has been started to locate the fighter jet. There is no news about the pilot yet.

On the other hand, another official said that some local people of Chokihola area of Bokajan sub-division have claimed that a plane might have crashed in the forest area. He further said that we are sending a team to verify it. We cannot confirm anything at this time.
Air Force has more than 260 Sukhoi 30 aircraft
Let us tell you that Sukhoi 30 MKI is a two-seater multirole long-range fighter jet. It has been made by Russian aircraft manufacturing company Sukhoi. However, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) manufactures these aircraft within the country under license. At present the Indian Air Force has more than 260 Sukhoi 30 MKI fighter jets.
