After this, it became the fastest Indian film to cross the ₹500 crore and ₹1,000 crore mark and broke many records in different markets. In the Hindi belt, Pushpa earned a whopping ₹72 crore on the first day, which was a new record for the opening day, and later its total earning in Hindi reached ₹830 crore. The release of Pushpa 2: The Rule took Sukumar to new heights. The film became a huge cultural moment, breaking records in India and abroad. More than mere figures, this film once again proves that Sukumar is a filmmaker who perfectly combines mass appeal with strong talent and strong convictions.

Before the storm of Pushpa: Take a look at the list of great films of India’s great filmmaker Sukumar Garu here:

1. Rangasthalam (2018)

The special thing about Rangasthalam is that while showing the problems of the village, it still focuses on the personal struggle of a common man. The story may seem tough from outside, but from inside it is told with great simplicity and understanding. This film does not express its views loudly, but rather leaves its impact through the silence between tense moments. Ram Charan’s changed expressions and style make his character look absolutely real. Sukumar has created such scenes which seem like the same land, sometimes rugged, somewhere open and unknown. The film is also remembered because in it politics seems to be naturally integrated into the everyday life of the family. Not everything is said clearly, some truths are understood gradually. Just as mud sticks to the feet after walking for a long time, the same truth is visible in every frame.

2. Arya (2004)

A love story which was completely different from ordinary films and which started quietly and changed everything. ‘Arya’, which came from the mind of Sukumar, presented love in a way that was not seen before. There was no common hero in this, rather a true, different and open-hearted character came to the fore. Emotions are clearly visible in every scene, which attracts the audience without forcing anything. The youth saw a glimpse of themselves in it, as if someone was understanding them. Time has passed, but this film is still fresh in people’s minds.

3. 1: Nenokkadine (2014)

Thinking ahead of its time and with a bold style, 1:Nenokkadine refused to follow the beaten track. Made without being bound by a fixed formula, this psychological thriller moved forward on the basis of risk. Sukumar’s story had depth, while Mahesh Babu’s acting made his character stronger. This film was discussed a lot because it changed the traditional thinking of Telugu cinema. It is very rare to see such experiments, which can captivate the audience so strongly.

4. 100% Love (2011)

The special thing about this film was that it seemed light-hearted and spontaneous, which revealed a different aspect of Sukumar. Staying away from heavy drama, it beautifully interweaved love, competition and domestic relationships. The young audience saw a glimpse of their life in it. The film also got clear and consistent success at the box office.

5. Nannaku Prematho (2016)

It is surprising that despite being a revenge story, this film seems so emotional from within. Nannaku Prematho’s dialogues touch the heart straight away, without much effort. The conflicts never felt fake, because they came from genuine emotions. Its special thing is that there is a deep heart hidden behind every step. Sukumar presented the familiar story in a new style. Family relationships do not just stay behind, but take every scene forward. A clean and simple story, well told, and emotions that leave an impact beyond expectations.

Going forward, Sukumar is giving a new direction to the future of Telugu cinema. Ram Charan’s film ‘Peddi’ is being made under his creative supervision under the banner of Sukumar Writings, while his deep creative impression is clearly visible on the film ‘Vrishkarma’ directed by Karthik Dundu and which has been in discussion for a long time.
