Sultan of Oman honored PM Modi with Oman’s highest honor ‘Order of Oman’
Muscat, 18 December. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday, the last day of his two-day visit to Oman, was honored with the ‘Order of Oman’ (First Class), one of the country’s highest honours, by Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman for his contribution and leadership in strengthening India-Oman relations. The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) gave this information.

PM Modi posted on social media platform X that he felt honored to receive the ‘Order of Oman’. He expressed his gratitude to Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, the Government of Oman and the people of Oman for this honor and described it as a symbol of affection and trust between the people of India and Oman.

Dedicated this honor to the people and ancestors of India
Highlighting the age-old maritime relations between India and Oman, the Prime Minister dedicated this honor to the people of India and the ancestors who laid the foundation of these relations through voyages from Mandvi to Muscat. He also paid tribute to the sailors and seafarers whose contacts and exchanges across generations have contributed to the progress of both countries.
Established diplomatic relations between India and Oman 70th anniversary
The honor was presented on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Oman and during the official visit of the Prime Minister to Muscat, reflecting the depth of the strategic partnership between the two countries.
The ‘Order of Oman’ (Civil Order), established by the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said in 1970, is one of the Sultanate’s highest honours. This honor has been given to selected world leaders for their significant contribution in public life and bilateral relations. Previous recipients have included heads of state and members of royal families from various countries.
