Summer Tips: Take proper care of your car in summers, carelessness should not burden your pocket

Summer Tips: Temperatures during summer in India reach 40 to 45 degrees Celsius in many cities. Such intense heat affects not only people but also many important parts of the car. High temperatures can cause additional stress on the engine, tires, battery, paint and interior. If they are not taken care of on time, the car may suddenly develop a malfunction or technical problem. Therefore, it becomes very important to take proper care of the car in summer.

Prevent engine overheating
The temperature of a car’s engine can increase rapidly in summer. Therefore, the driver should check the cooling system from time to time. To keep the engine safe, check the coolant level and also check the condition of the radiator and hose pipe. Also make sure that the cooling fan is working properly. According to experts, it is generally considered better to keep a 50:50 mixture of coolant and water in the cooling system.

Checking engine oil and fluids
The quality of engine oil can deteriorate quickly in extreme heat. Therefore, it is important to check the engine oil level with the dipstick from time to time. Apart from this, brake fluid, transmission fluid and power steering fluid should also be checked, because all these are important for the smooth and safe driving of the vehicle.

Keep a special eye on tire pressure
High temperatures cause the air inside the tire to expand, which can increase tire pressure. This can cause the tires to wear out quickly and also increases the risk of tire burst over long distances. Therefore, check the tire pressure at least once a month and keep it inflated as per the car manual.

Battery health is also important
High heat can also be harmful for the battery. High temperatures can cause the battery fluid to dry out quickly and reduce its life. Therefore, keep the battery terminals clean, check for corrosion and if the battery is more than three years old, get it tested.

Paint and interior safety
Strong sunlight can also damage the paint and interior of the car. Therefore, park the car in the shade, use sunshade and get the car washed and waxed from time to time. Due to this, the car’s paint remains protected for a long time and the interior also remains in better condition.
