Amanda Batula and West Wilcon, known for The Summer Househave confirmed their romantic relationship after ongoing internet speculations.

On Tuesday, March 31, the couple took to their Instagram Stories to share similar statements, reflecting on their “very new” relationship.

“It was never our intention to purposely hide anything,” the couple wrote in the statement. “Given the complicated relationship dynamics involved and the scrutiny that comes with being on a reality show, we need a little space to process things privately before speaking on it.”

However, as per a source of PEOPLEmost of their castmates “did not see this coming and many are still in the dark about what has actually occurred.”

The insider added that Batula and Wilson had kept their relationship highly secretive and had been openly denying it, which ultimately led others to piece things together in recent days, much like the wider public.

“There’s a lot of hurt, a lot of confusion, and a feeling of betrayal among the friend group,” the source continued.

Batula and Wilson, in their statement, continued that their romance was “the last thing either of us expected” and “grew out of a genuine, long-standing friendship, which made it especially important for us to approach this with care.”

The statement continued that as their feelings evolved, they wanted to take time to fully understand them, adding that they “never wanted” their actions to cause any hurt or be seen as careless, while acknowledging the situation had impacted others beyond just them.
