Materials:

  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 2 cups cold water
  • 1/2 tsp roasted cumin seeds
  • 1/4 tsp black salt
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 green chilli (finely chopped)
  • 1/2 inch ginger (grated)
  • A little coriander (chopped)
  • 5-6 curry leaves
  • A pinch of asafoetida

Action:

  • First of all take curd in a bowl and beat it well and make it smooth.
  • Add cold water to it and stir well again, so that buttermilk is formed.
  • Now add roasted cumin seeds, black salt and common salt.
  • Then add green chillies, ginger, coriander and curry leaves and mix.
  • Finally add a pinch of asafoetida and mix the whole mixture well.
  • Keep the prepared masala buttermilk in the fridge for some time to cool down.
  • Pour the chilled masala taka into a glass and serve with some coriander on top.
  • You can add some roasted mustard or tadka to make it more tasty.
  • If the buttermilk seems too thin or thick, adjust the amount of water according to your preference.
  • You can also add some ice cubes if you want more cooling.
