Sun Group, Marriott International partner to develop 10 hotels with 8 international brands in Vietnam
The projects will collectively offer nearly 4,500 rooms and are expected to open between 2026 and 2030.
The agreement, signed in the presence of Anthony Capuano, Global President and CEO of Marriott International, reflects the ongoing commitment of the hospitality group to support Sun Group in developing world-class tourism ecosystems, contributing to Vietnam’s position in the international tourism market.
The collaboration will introduce eight Marriott brands across different segments and operating models, including W Hotels, Marriott Hotels, Westin, Le Méridien, Courtyard by Marriott, Fairfield, Moxy Hotels, and Four Points by Sheraton. Notably, W Hotels and Moxy Hotels will make their debut in Vietnam through this partnership.
Previously, the two companies have collaborated on several luxury and ultra-luxury projects in Phu Quoc, including the JW Marriott Phu Quoc, which opened in 2017, and the Ritz-Carlton, Ritz-Carlton Reserve, and Luxury Collection properties at Hon Thom, which are planned to open in the near future. The expansion under Marriott International demonstrates a comprehensive partnership covering almost all segments – from midscale to premium, traditional to lifestyle, and hotel models catering to families, youth, and MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions) guests.

At the signing ceremony, Rajeev Menon, President of Marriott International for Asia Pacific (excluding China), noted that Vietnam is emerging as one of the most dynamic tourism markets globally. He added that the number of hotels managed by Marriott International in Vietnam has doubled since 2022. “Partnering with Sun Group, a visionary destination developer, and signing an additional 10 hotels reinforces our long-term commitment to this market,” Menon said.
From Sun Group’s perspective, Dang Minh Truong, Chairman of the Board, highlighted that integrating global brands into destination ecosystems can enhance the competitiveness of Vietnam’s tourism. He also emphasized that brand diversification can help expand the customer base, increase length of stay, and boost spending levels.

The majority of the new projects will be located in Phu Quoc, a destination being developed as a large-scale integrated tourism hub, combining resorts, entertainment, and synchronized infrastructure.
For years, Sun Group has established iconic attractions in Phu Quoc, including the world’s longest three-rope cable car, a large-scale theme park and water park complex, the Guinness World Record-breaking “Kiss of the Sea” multimedia show, Kiss Bridge, and Sunset Town with year-round artistic fireworks.
The addition of Marriott brands is expected to enhance the destination’s capacity to host large-scale events, international conferences, and MICE activities, in anticipation of APEC 2027.

Sun Group is also investing in supporting infrastructure, including the launch of Sun Phu Quoc Airways, expansion of international flight networks, and a partnership with Changi Airports International to develop a “destination airport” model at Phu Quoc International Airport, gradually positioning Phu Quoc as a “new gateway to Asia.”
