Sun PhuQuoc Airways accelerates presence in Hong Kong

The event introduced the airline’s upcoming direct route between Hong Kong and Phu Quoc, scheduled to launch on May 22.

Sun PhuQuoc Airways will operate five weekly flights on the route as part of its broader international expansion strategy following market growth in Taiwan, mainland China, and South Korea.

The airline also appointed OpenSky as its general sales agent (GSA) in Hong Kong to strengthen its distribution network and expand access to the local travel market. Accordingly, it will be one of the first full-service carriers to operate direct flights between Hong Kong and Phu Quoc.

In addition to standard services, passengers will have access to hot meals, checked baggage allowances, wireless in-flight entertainment, and Business Class services.

The airline also highlighted its “Hotel Check-in” service, which allows guests staying at Sun Group properties in Phu Quoc to complete check-in procedures and baggage drop directly at their hotels before heading to the airport.

Sun PhuQuoc Airways has also introduced the Sun Executive Lounge at Phu Quoc International Airport as part of its premium service offering.

According to the airline, it ranked among Vietnam’s leading carriers for on-time performance during the first quarter of 2026, based on data from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam.

Looking ahead, the airline plans to standardize its cabin interiors under the “Élégance Indochine-The Elegance of Indochina” concept, alongside preparations to introduce A330 widebody aircraft into its fleet in the near future.

These long-term investments, combined with exclusive travel privileges including up to 30% savings on accommodation, dining, and spa services, as well as complimentary Sun World Hon Thom Cable Car tickets, create a unique value proposition few airlines can match.

In addition, the new route is aimed at growing demand for short-haul leisure travel from Hong Kong, particularly as Phu Quoc offers visa-free entry for international visitors and direct access to integrated resort and entertainment facilities in southern Phu Quoc. The new service is expected to strengthen tourism and aviation links between Hong Kong and Vietnam’s largest island destination.
