Former Indian legend backs Rishabh Pant after LSG skipper dropped F-Bomb on live TV
Indian wicketkeeper and batter Rishabh Pant has been under pressure after Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) had a miserable IPL 2026. Pant and his side finished last in the table with eight points from 14 games. There was a minor controversy after LSG’s game vs RR last week when Pant dropped the F-Bomb on Live TV during the post-match interaction.
When speaking to former West Indian pacer Ian Bishop, the 28-year-old was asked about the team after a terrible season. To this, the Lucknow captain said, “Despite everything that happened, we are a good team. Things haven’t gone our way this season, but it cannot change the fact that we are a F****** good team.” Once the interaction was over, Bishop had to say sorry to the fans watching the broadcast.
Former India skipper Sunil Gavaskar has backed the young Indian star for his gaffe during his recent article for Mid-Day. The 76-year-old had stated that it is necessary to think about interviewing a losing captain, who is not happy with the team’s results, just after the game was needed just as the game was done. Mr. Gavaskar also stated that since Rishabh had been running up and down in the sweltering heat as a wicketkeeper, too, itadded to his frustration, which caused the expletive to be used.
Former World Cup winner calls Indian wicketkeeper ‘Cheerful’
In the same article in Mid-Day, aformer batting legend threw his support behind the under-fire Indian star. India’s legend Rishabh is called a cheerful player who loves to play cricket in his own way. Stating the example of the normally jovial youngster losing his cool, the veteran commentator wondered if losing captains should be asked questions right after having lost the game.
An ex-Indian cricket player also suggested the broadcasters could be looking at asking questions to the player of the match, rather than the losing skipper. The veteran explained that this gives the captains time to get refreshed and also clear their minds before taking questions about the game. And this will also ensure such situations don’t arise again.
