Vaibhav Sooryavanshi: In the fifth and last T20 match between India and England, 15-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi was dropped from the playing 11. In this match held in Southampton, experienced wicketkeeper batsman Sanju Samson returned to the playing eleven in place of Vaibhav. Former Indian cricketer and great batsman Sunil Gavaskar has openly expressed his displeasure over this decision of the team management.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi out of playing 11

Actually, Sanju Samson was dropped from the playing 11 after flopping in the first match against Ireland and England. Vaibhav Suryavanshi was included in the team in his place. However, Vaibhav could not capitalize on this opportunity well and despite getting chances in three consecutive matches, he could not do anything special. Vaibhav could score only 42 runs in 3 matches. After which the management decided to drop him from the fifth and last T20 match. Sunil Gavaskar has cornered the team management on the decision to drop Vaibhav.

Sunil Gavaskar expressed his displeasure

Sunil Gavaskar believes that the result of this series has already been decided. In such a situation, this young batsman should have been given another chance. On the decision to keep Vaibhav Suryavanshi out of the playing 11 in the fifth T20, Gavaskar said, ‘It is very disappointing not to see him in the team.’ He believes that in white ball cricket, the opener could also be played in the middle order if needed. He has shown his talent. If this was a do or die match, I would have agreed with the decision of playing an experienced player, but this match had no impact on the outcome of the series.

Appeal to team management

Referring to the age of young opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Sunil Gavaskar appealed to the team management to take care of the young player. Gavaskar said, ‘I hope someone will put a hand on his shoulder and tell him that this is not the end. I think it is a bit harsh decision to drop a 15 year old player after just 3 matches.
