Wankhede Stadium holds a special place in Indian cricket history, having hosted some of the sport’s most unforgettable moments. The stadium became immortalized when India won their second ODI World Cup there, defeating Sri Lanka in the final on April 2, 2011. Additionally, the stadium witnessed India’s first-ever whitewash in Test cricket and Virat Kohli’s record-breaking 50th ODI century.
We will do our best to bring the Champions Trophy back to the Wankhede,” Rohit said
During the celebration, India’s captain Rohit Sharma posed for photos with the ICC Champions Trophy, which was prominently displayed at the stadium ahead of the tournament scheduled to begin on February 19.
“We are about to begin another tournament, and I am confident that the support of 140 crore people will be with us when we reach Dubai,” Rohit said, prompting a cheer from the crowd at the Wankhede Stadium.”We will give our all to bring this trophy back to the Wankhede,” he added.
India has been placed in Group A of the Champions Trophy alongside Pakistan, Bangladesh, and New Zealand. Their campaign kicks off on February 20 against Bangladesh in Dubai, followed by a crucial match against Pakistan on February 23. All of India’s group-stage matches, including the semi-finals and final, will take place in Dubai.
