Ashwin announces retirement after Gaba test draw
Ashwin's retirement was announced after the draw of the Gabba Test match, when the match was stopped due to rain and Ashwin was discussing for a long time with Virat Kohli in the dressing room. Should have retired after the series ended
Gavaskar believes that Ashwin should have taken the decision to retire after the series, so that the Indian team would have had an option for the playing eleven in the Sydney Test. He said, “The Sydney pitch could have been helpful for the spinners, in such a situation India could have gone with two spinners. If any player was injured, the team management would have to choose someone from the reserve player. Ashwin could have participated in that match.”
