Sunil Gavaskar predicts Team India’s Playing XI For the second Test vs Australia, drops three players

India defeated Australia by 295 runs in the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The action will now shift to the Adelaide Oval, where the two teams will compete in a day-night Test from December 6. India captain Rohit Sharma, who missed the first game due to the birth of his second child, has joined the team ahead of the second red-ball game. Shubman Gill is also expected to return to the playing XI after missing the Perth match due to a finger injury.

Former player Sunil Gavaskar predicted the team’s playing XI. In an interaction with 7Cricket, he said Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill will be back in the Playing XI in place of Devdutt Padikkal and Dhruv Jurel. He also mentioned that the batting order will change.

Rahul opened the batting in Rohit’s absence and scored 77 runs in the second innings. Gavaskar feels Rahul will be sent back to his designated no.6 slot.

“There will be two changes with Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill returning to the Playing XI. The batting order will also change as Rohit will replace Rahul in the opening slot while Shubman Gill taking the No.3 slot. Padikkal and Jurel will be dropped and Rahul will bat at six,” he said.

Sunil Gavaskar also said that India should play Ravindra Jadeja instead of Washington Sundar. “Jadeja can be included in place of Washington Sundar,” Gavaskar added.
