Further, citing the Pahalgam terrorist attack, Gavaskar said that if an Indian-owned team invests money on a Pakistani player, then that money reaches the Pakistan government in the form of tax, which can be used to buy weapons. Gavaskar clearly says that the match fees given to Pakistani players indirectly causes the deaths of Indians.
Gavaskar further writes in his column that Sunrisers Leeds coach Daniel Vettori may not understand this sensitivity, but the Indian owners should have understood the situation keeping the situation in mind. He further wrote that, if the Indian is the owner, then he is indirectly funding a system that can lead to the death of Indian soldiers and civilians.
