Superstar Yash’s film ‘Toxic’ stuck in controversy even before its release
Toxic Teaser Controversy: Kannada cinema superstar Yash is once again in the center of discussion, but this time the reason is not praise for his film, but controversy. Yash’s upcoming film ‘Toxic’ has become a part of legal and social debate even before its release. As soon as the teaser of the film was released, there was enthusiasm among the fans, while some sections started protesting strongly, calling it objectionable.
Birthday gift became cause of controversy
Yash had released the teaser of the film ‘Toxic’ on 9 January on the occasion of his birthday. The teaser quickly went viral on social media and garnered millions of views within a few hours. However, a bold scene in the teaser angered many social organizations and activists.
Accusations of obscenity and hurting social values
Regarding the intimate scene shown in the teaser, there is an allegation that it is against Indian social and cultural values. Critics say that such scenes can have a negative impact on minors and youth, especially when this content is being shown on open platforms without any warning.
Formal complaint lodged with CBFC
Social activist Dinesh Kallahalli, a resident of Kanakapura taluk of Ramanagara district, has filed a complaint with the Central Board of Film Certification against the teaser of the film. This complaint has been addressed to CBFC Chairman Prasoon Joshi. The complaint states that the scenes present in the teaser violate the Cinematograph Act 1952 and CBFC guidelines.
Questions also raised on freedom of expression
The complainant has clarified that even though freedom of expression is a fundamental right, it cannot be unlimited. It should be used only within the bounds of public decency and morality. Objections have been raised to the teaser citing old decisions of the Supreme Court.
Entry of Women Commission, report sought
The matter did not stop here. Karnataka State Women’s Commission has also sought a report from CBFC in this matter. The Commission has asked under what rules the teaser was investigated and what action has been taken so far. This step was taken after the complaint of Karnataka State Secretary of Aam Aadmi Party, Usha Mohan.
Release date and star cast of the film
‘Toxic’ is considered to be one of Yash’s most popular films. The film is scheduled to release in theaters on 19 April 2026. In this, big actresses like Kiara Advani, Nayanthara and Huma Qureshi will be seen along with Yash. Now it remains to be seen what decision is taken on the teaser and promotion of the film after the reports of CBFC and Women’s Commission.
