Relief to Rahul Gandhi from Supreme Court in defamation case, trial court proceedings stayed

New Delhi. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has got relief from the Supreme Court in the defamation case. The Supreme Court has put an interim stay on the trial court proceedings till further orders. This case was heard by Justice Vikram Nath and Justice Sandeep Mehta. The Supreme Court judge has also sought response from the Jharkhand government and the complainant on the petition seeking quashing of Rahul Gandhi's case.

In this case, on the petition of Rahul Gandhi, the Supreme Court has also sent a notice to the Jharkhand government and the complainant BJP worker Naveen Jha. Let us tell you that BJP worker Naveen Jha had also filed a defamation case against Rahul Gandhi. During the 2019 Lok Sabha election campaign, Rahul Gandhi is accused of calling Home Minister Amit Shah a murderer.

During the hearing held in the Supreme Court today i.e. on Monday, Rahul Gandhi's lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi said that the complaint was filed by a third party and doing so is not acceptable in a defamation case. After this, the lawyer asked the question in the court itself that if you are not a victim then how can you get a proxy for the complaint in this case.

A case was registered against Rahul Gandhi in 2019

BJP workers had filed a case on the statement of Rahul Gandhi calling Amit Shah a murderer. This case was registered in 2019. Which was recorded on behalf of Naveen Jha. But Jharkhand High Court had refused to quash this case. Let us tell you that during one of his public speeches in Chaibasa during an election rally in 2019, Rahul Gandhi had allegedly used the word 'killer' for Shah.
