Supreme Court grants bail to businessman Amandeep Dhall in Delhi liquor scam case

The Central Investigation Agency (CBI) is still investigating the case in Delhi's alleged liquor scam case. On Friday, the Supreme Court granted bail to businessman Amandeep Singh Dhall. While granting bail to businessman Amandeep Singh Dhall, the Supreme Court said that he has already been granted bail and the trial in the money laundering case is yet to begin, in which more than 300 witnesses will be questioned.

A bench headed by Justice Surya Kant, while hearing the bail petition, said that keeping the petitioner in custody will not solve the matter. The court said that all the accused in this case have already got bail, therefore, without giving our opinion on the guilt, we order the petitioner to be released on bail. The court had earlier granted bail to Sanjay Singh, Manish Sisodia and former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. While granting bail in this case, Justice Ujjal Bhuiyan has directed Dhall to cooperate in the case.

Last year, CBI had arrested him in the liquor scam case; Earlier, in 2022, ED had arrested him in a money laundering case, in which he was in jail for several months, hence the court raised questions and directed to release him on bail. Delhi High Court had already granted bail to Amandeep Dhall.

Brindco Sales Private Limited, the liquor manufacturing company of the Dhall family, is headed by Amandeep Dhall as its executive director. He was involved in a WhatsApp group called Delhi Liquor Sales Association, which was sent before the implementation of the excise policy. Later, Amandeep Dhall was accused by the CBI of taking advantage of the new government policy and bribing the Aam Aadmi Party. He was arrested and kept in custody, but now the Supreme Court has given relief to the accused Amandeep Dhall.
