Supreme Court rejected the demand to stop construction of mosque in the name of Babri; The arguments given in the petition were also rejected
Bureau Prayagraj. The Supreme Court on Friday rejected a petition seeking a ban on building or naming any mosque after Babar. The court also rejected the argument that such structures honor a ‘brutal attacker’. The Supreme Court bench of Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta refused to consider the petition after a brief hearing on Friday.
The petition demanded that Babar was an anti-Hindu aggressor. He was involved in the killing of Hindus. Therefore no mosque should be built in its name.
During the hearing, the petitioner’s lawyer also mentioned the mosque being built in Murshidabad, West Bengal. Keel said that despite Babar being a brutal anti-Hindu attacker, a mosque in the name of Babri Masjid is being built in Murshidabad.
The recent controversy over the construction of a mosque in the name of Babar started from Murshidabad in West Bengal. While being a TMC MLA, Humayun Kabir had announced the construction of Babri Masjid in Murshidabad. Many Hindu organizations and Muslim religious leaders had raised objections to the name of the mosque. However, due to massive protests, he was suspended from TMC.
After this Humayun Kabir formed a new political party named ‘Janata Unnayan Party’. At present, ‘Babri Masjid’ is being constructed by Humayun in Murshidabad. Humayun Kabir laid its foundation on 6 December 2025, on the anniversary of the demolition of the disputed structure of Ayodhya. am
Mayun Kabir said that the construction work will be completed within three years. The construction of this structure will cost approximately Rs 55 crore. The height of the gate of the mosque will be 14 meters. Its width will be 5 meters. The estimated cost of construction of the gate alone will be around Rs 5 crore.
