Supreme Court reprimanded the makers of the film ‘Ghooshkhor Pandit’… Said you are doing this in the name of freedom of expression…
New Delhi . The Supreme Court has reprimanded the producer of the film ‘Ghooshkhor Pandit’. A bench headed by Justice BV Nagarathna said that you cannot degrade any community in the name of freedom of expression. During the hearing the producer of the film said that the name of the film will be changed. Then the court said that you should file an affidavit in this regard. The next hearing of the case will be on February 19.
The court said that when there is already so much unrest in the society, such names can worsen the atmosphere further. The court said that the right to freedom of expression is not an unlimited right in itself. Reasonable restrictions apply to that too. You cannot target any community like this under the guise of that.
The petition was filed by Atul Mishra. It was said in the petition that an attempt is being made to target a particular community through this film.
During the hearing in Delhi High Court on February 10, the producer of the film had said that he is changing the name of the film.
