Actually, in the Supreme Court, the bench of Justice BR Gavai and KV Viswanathan is hearing 5 petitions related to Tirupati Laddoo controversy. Among their petitioners were Y. V Subba Reddy, Vikram Sampath, Dushyant Sridhar, Dr. Subramaniam Swamy and Suresh Chavan. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta presented the case on behalf of the Central Government. Whereas Siddharth Luthra and Mukul Rohatgi were present on behalf of Andhra Pradesh government. During this, Subramanian Swamy's lawyer said before the bench that the construction material was going into the kitchen without checking. Investigation revealed. The system should be responsible for its supervision because it is an offering to the deity and is sacred to the public and devotees.

Hearing the petitions seeking a court-monitored investigation, the bench said, “The petition is related to the sentiments of crores of people living all over the world. Honorable Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh made a public statement that during the previous regime animal fat was being used to make Tirupati laddus. However, some press reports also showed that the Chief Executive Officer of Tirupati Tirumala Devasthanams also gave a statement that such adulterated ghee was never used. The petitions contain various prayers including directions for an independent investigation and to regulate the affairs of religious trusts and especially the making of offerings.”

Justice Vishwanathan asked Rohatgi, “There are some disclaimers in the lab report. It is not clear. This prima facie indicates that it was rejected ghee which was examined. If you yourself have ordered an inquiry, then what was the need to go to the press.” “This report prima facie indicates that this is not the material that was used in making the laddus,” Justice Vishwanathan said. Justice Gavai asked the state, “When you ordered investigation through SIT, what was the need to go to the press?”

During the hearing, Justice Gavai said, “When you hold a constitutional post, we expect that the gods will be kept away from the politicians.” Justice Vishwanathan asked, “You get the report in July. You go public on September 18th. Unless you are sure, how did you speak in public?” Justice Gavai asked, “Was that ghee used to make laddus?” TTD advocate Siddharth Luthra said, “We have ordered an investigation.” Justice Vishwanathan said, “When someone gives a report like yours, isn't it wise to get a second opinion? First of all, there is no evidence that this ghee was used. There is no second opinion.”
