Suresh Raina confirms meeting between Rishabh Pant and MS Dhoni; India star’s CSK move sealed
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have retained Ruturaj Gaikwad, Mathesha Pathirana, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni for the 2025 Indian Premier League.
Dhoni is 43 and will not be around for a long time, and the veteran wants to hand over the wicket-keeping duties to a known face.
The five-time champions have set sights on Rishabh Pant, who is a proven captain and world-class keeper.
The southpaw was not retained by the Delhi Capitals, which made CSK’s chances brighter. Former Chennai player Suresh Raina hinted at Pant joining the franchise. “I met MS Dhoni in Delhi, and Pant was also present. Someone will be wearing a yellow jersey soon,” he said.
Pant’s addition will benefit the team as he could lead them for a long time. His wicket-keeping and attacking batting are likely to be assets for one of the most successful franchises in the tournament.
However, the situation won’t be easy. CSK is left with INR 55 crore in their purse, and a player like Rishabh won’t come cheap. He is going to start a bidding war between the franchises.
