Suriya-starrer Kanguva BO: Surpasses opening figure of Leo, Indian 2, The GOAT and Vettaiyan

The Siruthai Siva-directed film Kanguva, which starred Suriya, Bobby Deol, and Disha Patani among others, had a respectably strong start at the Hindi box office, earning between Rs 3.25 and Rs 3.50 crore (Rs 4 crore gross) on its first day of release. Because it is hard for regional films, especially Kollywood films, to gain traction in the Hindi market from the first day of release, like this Suriya starrer, without a recognized IP, it has actually achieved the largest opening for a Kollywood film in Hindi since November 2018.

Kanguva emerges as the biggest Kollywood Film

In Hindi, Kanguva has debuted more successfully than films like Leo, The Goat, Ponniyin Selvan I, II, Vettaiyan, Indian 2, and others. Because the producers were unwilling to comply with the requirements set by the multiplex chains for dubbed Hindi releases, Leo, The GOAT, and Vettaiyan were not released at prestigious national chains like PVRInox and Cinepolis. Kanguva’s start is nearly identical to that of Pushpa: The Rise, which eventually made over Rs 100 crore in Hindi. The distinction is that whereas Suriya’s mystical has opened to mixed to bad reports, Pushpa’s word of mouth was excellent. These reports will have the biggest impact on it in the days ahead.

Even if it’s Suriya’s highest, considering the hype, the promotions, the scale, and everything else, it had to be much higher. Naturally, Friday’s box office receipts for the film will drop significantly, and many people may be surprised by the extended opening weekend in India.

About the film

The first scene in Suriya’s Kanguva tells the story of Francis, a bounty hunter from Goa who performs specific tasks to support himself. He begins looking for a child who reminds him of his former life during one of his bounty hunts.

This brings us to the life of Kanga, aka Kanguva, a tribal warrior prince who is threatened by Romans who want to destroy and take over his community. The remainder of the tale is set up when an opposing clan joins forces with the latter to defeat Kanguva in the same scenario.
