Suryakumar Yadav Captaincy: The form of Indian T20 cricket team captain Suryakumar Yadav remains a cause for concern. Under his leadership, India is continuously winning T20 series. But his contribution as a batsman is under question. After becoming the captain, he has played a few big innings. Recently, Surya’s shine also seemed to be fading against South Africa. Meanwhile, news has come that chief selector Ajit Agarkar has decided to make a big change in the captaincy of the T20 format.
Is the captaincy going to be snatched from Suryakumar Yadav?
According to information received from news agency PTI, question marks are being raised on Suryakumar Yadav’s place. The report claims that Ajit Agarkar can make a major change in the leadership of the shortest format of the game after the T20 World Cup 2026, due to which Surya may have to lose the captaincy. Let us tell you that T20 World Cup 2026 is going to start from 7th February, while the final will be played on 8th March.

Shubman Gill’s place is also in danger
Along with the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav, the place of Shubman Gill is also in danger. Due to his excellent form during the England tour, he was reinstated in the T20 format. But till now he has not scored a big fifty, Shubman’s highest individual score has been 46 which came in Asia Cup 2025. Because of him, strong players like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad are sitting out and Sanju Samson is also not getting a chance to open.
The team is going to be announced today
Along with this, let us tell you that the team for T20 World Cup 2026 is going to be announced today i.e. on 20th December. Ajit Agarkar and Suryakumar Yadav will share the team through a press conference from BCCI headquarters in Mumbai. This press conference will start at 1:30 pm. There is definitely a question on Shubman Gill’s place, but he is currently the vice-captain of the T20 team. In such a situation, it is not going to be easy to oust him.
