Suryakumar Yadav: Suryakumar Yadav had led the Indian cricket team to the T20 World Cup 2026 title under his captaincy three months ago. He made the Indian cricket team the T20 World Champion for the second consecutive time, while also defending the T20 World Cup won in his country under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma in 2024. The captaincy has been snatched from Suryakumar Yadav because of his form. He is continuously proving to be a flop in batting. Runs were not coming from his bat. However, as captain, he always kept Team India at great heights. Now he has been removed from the captaincy due to not scoring runs with the bat and due to his increasing age.

After removing him from the captaincy, Team India’s chief selector Ajit Agarkar said, ‘It is difficult, we have just won the World Cup, but as happens after most World Cups. You try to think again about what is the best way to proceed. To some extent because of his own form but also looking at the next two-year cycle or a little more than two years now until the next World Cup. We thought this was the best way to move forward, as I said, Shreyas is a capable captain.

Amidst all this, Suryakumar Yadav’s first reaction after being removed from the captaincy and being dropped from Team India has come to light. Surya said, ‘I am very happy for Shreyas Iyer. We have played a lot of cricket together for Mumbai and India. The most important thing is that now there are 3 consecutive T20 captains for India from Mumbai and this is a very proud moment for all of us in Mumbai cricket.

Suryakumar Yadav has talked about this during the T20 Mumbai 2026 League. Today the match is being played between Triumphs Knights MNE vs SoBo Mumbai Falcons. Suryakumar Yadav is the captain of Triumphs Knights. He has said this big thing during the toss in this match. In this match he played an innings of 48 runs in 24 balls.

T20 career of Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav made his debut for India in the year 2021 under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. He has played 113 T20 matches for the country. During this period, he scored 3272 runs in 107 innings with 4 centuries and 25 half-centuries. During this period his average was 36.4 and strike rate was 162.9. His bat has hit 482 fours and 178 sixes in T20 cricket. Now when will his career be back on track again? Nothing can be said about this.
