The worst phase of Suryakumar Yadav’s captaincy, the responsibility became difficult, you will be stunned to see the record!
Suryakumar Yadav Captaincy Record: Indian T-20 team captain Suryakumar Yadav is currently seen struggling to score runs even in his favorite format. The statistics tell a clear story of his poor form. Surya has been able to score only 222 runs in the last 19 T-20 International innings and during this period he has not scored a single half-century with his bat. Since taking over the captaincy in July 2024, he has scored only two fifties, which is a matter of concern for any captain.
Surya hasn’t scored a fifty since last one year
The situation has become so bad that more than a year has passed since Suryakumar Yadav scored his last half-century. Surya last scored a half-century on 12 October 2024 against Bangladesh. Since then, despite getting continuous opportunities, he has failed to play big innings. The special thing is that this problem of Surya seems to be increasing even more in big matches.
Captain flopped in Cuttack T-20 also
There were huge expectations from Surya in the first T20 International match being played against South Africa in Cuttack. When the Indian team came to bat after losing the toss, vice-captain Shubman Gill was out in the very first over. After this, captain Suryakumar Yadav reached the crease. Surya came to his favorite batting position number three, but the story remained the same.

Suryakumar could score only 12 runs in his innings of 11 balls. One four and one six were definitely seen in his innings, but he could not survive. While trying to play a big shot on the ball of Lungi Ngidi, he played the shot in the air and Aiden Markram made no mistake in taking the catch.
Why did Surya’s game deteriorate after captaincy?
Suryakumar Yadav’s consistency in batting seems to be disappearing as soon as he takes over the captaincy after the T20 World Cup 2024. After becoming the captain, Surya’s confidence is not the same as before. In the last 10 T-20 matches, he has been able to cross the 30-run mark only once. These figures clearly indicate that Surya is continuously failing to play big innings.

Suryakumar Yadav is currently a part of the Indian T20 team as the captain, but his declining form has increased the problems of the team management. If Surya is not able to return to his old form soon, then questions may arise about his place in the future. In a format like T-20, it is very important for the captain to score runs and on this front, Surya seems to be failing at the moment.
