Delhi: Even though Suryakumar Yadav could not succeed as a player in the T20 World Cup, as a captain he led the team to the trophy. He came to lead Team India in an ICC event for the first time and created history in the very first attempt. After winning the T20 World Cup trophy for the Indian team, Surya has expressed his desire to play Test cricket.
Suryakumar Yadav wants to play test
Let us tell you that explosive right-handed batsman Surya made his debut in international cricket in March 2021 in the match played against England in Ahmedabad. After some time, he got a place in the ODI team also.
However, Surya had to wait for 2 years to wear the Test jersey. The magic of this Mumbai Indians player could not work in the Test format and he was dropped from the team after just one match.
While talking to PTI, Surya told that he wants to re-enter the Test team. However, he also believed that every player gets what is written in his destiny and he feels completely comfortable playing in the shortest format.
I have my sights set on T20 – Surya
Like most players, Surya was able to become a part of the Indian national team only after playing red ball cricket. He said that due to playing white ball cricket, his inclination towards red ball cricket started decreasing. I tried my best to establish myself in ODI, but could not succeed. However, now my hand is set in T20 cricket.
Surya’s test debut was in 2023
Surya, the current T20 team captain of India, made his Test debut against Australia in 2023. In this match held in Nagpur, the right-handed batsman had scored only 8 runs. Surya was dropped from the Test team after playing just one match.
