Suryakumar Yadav raised the flag of success under captaincy, made a great record, left everyone behind in winning percentage.

Suryakumar Yadav T20I Record As Captain: Big changes may soon be seen in the T20 setup of the Indian cricket team. After winning the T20 World Cup 2026, Team India is now eyeing preparations for the next cycle. India has to play a two-match T20 series on the Ireland tour at the end of June, the team for which is yet to be announced. Meanwhile, discussions are going on that the selectors may make changes in the captaincy to give a new direction to the T20 team.

According to recent reports, T20 captaincy may be withdrawn from Suryakumar Yadav. Not only this, due to his poor form his place in the team is also being questioned. However, if we look at the statistics, his record as a captain has been quite impressive.

Suryakumar was very successful as a captain

After Rohit Sharma’s retirement from T20 International cricket, Suryakumar Yadav was given the command of India in this format. Even before this, he had led the team in many matches in the absence of Rohit. Under the captaincy of Suryakumar, the Indian team continuously performed brilliantly. Under his leadership, India played 52 T20 international matches, winning 42 of them. The team lost only 8 matches, while 2 matches did not yield any result.

The most important thing was that under his captaincy the Indian team did not lose any bilateral T20 series. India played 9 series during this period and won all of them. Apart from this, the team also won the Asia Cup 2026 title under his leadership.

Old color not visible in batting

Despite success on the captaincy front, Suryakumar’s personal performance has not been up to expectations for some time. This is the reason why discussions are being held regarding his future. As captain, he scored 1232 runs while playing 49 innings in 52 matches. During this period his average was 28.65 and strike rate was 154.96. One century and eight half-centuries were also seen from his bat. However, in recent months, he has been seen struggling to play big innings.

Tough challenge before the selectors

The selectors will now be challenged to strike a balance in view of the Ireland series and the upcoming big tournaments. On one hand, there is Suryakumar’s captaincy record, while on the other hand, his current batting form remains a matter of concern.
