Home Ministry takes action after attack on Subhendu Adhikari’s convoy in Medinipur, seeks report

Kolkata News: The Union Home Ministry has sought a report regarding the attack on the car of Subhendu Adhikari, leader of opposition in the West Bengal Assembly. After this, video footage of the attack has been sent to the ministry from Subhendu Adhikari’s office. Meanwhile, BJP workers and supporters protested in many districts on Saturday evening against the attack on Subhendu Adhikari’s car.

The BJP leader’s convoy was attacked at Chandrakona in West Midnapore district late Saturday evening when he was returning to Kolkata after attending a political event in Purulia district.

Attack on convoy with sticks

Subhendu Adhikari claimed that some people suddenly blocked the road after crossing the four-point crossing in Chandrakona Road Market area of ​​Paschim Medinipur district. They were carrying Trinamool Congress flags. The opposition leader also claimed that some ruling party workers attacked his convoy with bamboo sticks and also attacked his bulletproof vehicle. He alleged that all this continued for a long time, but the local police did not reach the spot.

The officer’s convoy somehow managed to leave the spot, after which they went straight to Chandrakona police post and sat on the floor there. This is not the first time that the convoy of an opposition leader has been attacked.

There was an attack earlier also

In August 2025, Subhendu Adhikari’s convoy was attacked in Cooch Behar city of North Bengal. It is alleged that a group of people associated with Trinamool Congress had tried to stop the vehicles of his convoy.
