Suzuki will manufacture all electric vehicles in India for the global market

Japan: Japanese carmaker Suzuki will manufacture all electric vehicles for the global market in India, Suzuki Motor President Toshihiro Suzuki revealed at the Auto Expo 2025. The company president mentioned this important detail during the unveiling of the Maruti E Vitara. Toshihiro Suzuki said the company has decided to manufacture all its electric vehicles in India after detailed study.

Talking about Evitara, it will be produced in the company's Gujarat plant. The company will also manufacture Toyota Urban Cruiser EV in the same plant.

Toshihiro Suzuki said, “From here we will export to more than 100 countries. In India, we will use all our resources to build a battery electric vehicle (BEV) ecosystem, so that our customers can experience complete peace of mind. This will ensure that customers feel very comfortable and confident when choosing a BEV.”

Suzuki also plans to strengthen its charging network with its 'E for Me' initiative. Under this network, fast-charging will be offered in the top 100 cities. Maruti Suzuki CEO and MD Hisashi Takeuchi said that the company aims to create a charging point every 5-10 km. The company is also setting up over 1500 EV enabled service workshops across 1000 cities.

Maruti evitara

Maruti Evitara is available with 49kWh and 61kWh battery packs. The motors generate 143hp and 173hp respectively while the torque is 192.5Nm. Even though the company hasn't mentioned any range of the cars, the larger battery pack is claimed to offer a range of over 500 km. The price of Maruti Evitara is expected to be between Rs 20 lakh to Rs 25 lakh.
