‘Sweetpea’ Season 2: Release date speculation, cast and plot details – Everything we know so far
Sweetpea is one of the most anticipated international OTT platform original series with darkly comic content, with the story revolving around the life of Rhiannon Lewis, who progresses from a forgotten wallflower to a serial killer; this show has taken viewers on her wonderfully fucked up and darkly comedic journey throughout both seasons. After an amazing start in Season 1, fans can’t wait to see how things turn out for her in Season 2, where they will have to deal with even more mounting deaths and chaos within themselves (relatable), new relationships, a growing kill list, a looming copycat killer, and many heavy questions related to what it means to be monstrous. The first season provides an emotionally thrilling ride as it relates to how we treat our fellow beings in society. Rhiannon, an amazing character played by Ella Purnell, along with several new characters played by Rish Shah and Tamsin Greig, will be back on screens on Sky and Starz in 2026 for another exciting season of this series.
‘Sweetpea’ Season 2: Release Date Speculation
A premiere date for Season Two has not yet been set, but we can expect it to be on Sky (UK via Sky Atlantic and NOW) and Starz (USA and elsewhere, including some streaming options like Prime Video backup) sometime between now and 2026, as Season Two will not be ready until January of 2026. Filming began in August 2025 in London, and it looks like filming for Season 2 has already been completed as of late October 2025. Based on the production timelines of other shows that are similar to ours, a premiere date in or around 2026 —probably mid-late summer 2026 — is still possible, but maybe a little earlier than we initially thought (late 2025).
We received our first images from Season 2. One shows Rhiannon (Purnell) holding a ketchup bottle, also “monster” written on a wall behind a ketchup bottle… hints or a teaser for us somewhere along her character arc growing blacker.
‘Sweetpea’ Season 2: Cast Details
Ella Purnell returns in the lead role as Rhiannon Lewis, with several cast members confirmed or returning.
- Returning/Confirmed: Ella Purnell (Rhiannon) is the anchor, and reports indicate multiple Season 1 characters are back (though specifics on who survived or returns vary—expect core survivors like family or close ties).
- New Additions:
- Rish Shah (Overcompensating) as Gabriel, Rhiannon’s romantic interest.
- Tamsin Greig (Riot Women) as Liv, AJ’s mother.
- Taj Atwal (Riot Women) as Freya, Rhiannon’s formidable new boss at the Carnsham Gazette.
- Jenny Walser (Heartstopper) as Daisy, an adoring new friend.
Some Season 1 characters won’t return due to the story’s events (e.g., victims), but the focus remains on Rhiannon’s spiral.
‘Sweetpea’ Season 2: Plot Details
Rhiannon is returning for another wild ride in season two, and this time, Rhiannon will be even more powerful and unhinged than before.
As per the official synopsis of the series, “In Season Two of the iconic and darkly hilarious crime thriller, killer wallflower Rhiannon Lewis is once again in the spotlight as she tries to navigate a new promotion and an irresistible rebound, all the while being pursued by Marina. With her sister selling the family home, a copycat killer threatening to expose her, and the number of murders on her kill list growing, Rhiannon is no longer the naive girl we met in Season One. However, as Rhiannon has, through her rage and use of her power, become more comfortable being herself, does her ex-boyfriend AJ have a point about her being a monster?”
There will be even more murders, additional layers of dark humour, Rhiannon’s internal battle with the growing number of bodies in her wake, and new threats from a copycat, and so forth. The series will be based on C.J. Skuse’s books, which will give us more than enough material to develop even more “twists.”
As described by Ella Purnell, it’s going to be “big” and “crazy.” If you enjoyed the blend of comedy, thriller, and psychological depth that was Season 1, then get ready for even more of the same with the new season cranked up even further!
Keep an eye out for official trailers and exact premiere dates from Sky or Starz! If you’re behind, Season 1 is available on both platforms.
