Swiggy delivery agent fell while getting off the moving train, viral video raises questions on the safety of gig workers

Swiggy Delivery Agent: A shocking incident reported from Andhra Pradesh has raised serious questions on the safety of gig workers. A routine food delivery turned into a near-fatal accident when a Swiggy delivery agent fell on the platform while alighting from a moving train. The video of this entire incident is becoming increasingly viral on social media and people are expressing their anger over the shortcomings of the system.

This matter is being told of Anantapur Railway Station. According to reports, a passenger sitting in the first AC coach of Prashanti Express train had ordered food through the train food delivery feature. Companies like Swiggy and Zomato allow passengers to order food in the train through PNR number, so that there is no need to go out during the journey.

Delivery boy arrived to deliver food in the train

It is being told that the train stopped at Anantapur station for just one to two minutes. Within this short time, the delivery agent somehow reached the First AC coach and handed over the food to the passenger. But the train started immediately after delivery. While alighting in a hurry, the agent lost his balance and fell from the moving train onto the platform.

It can be clearly seen in the viral video that the agent tries to get down quickly and then falls on the platform. It was fortunate that he did not suffer serious injuries, but this accident could have resulted in a major loss.

Why did the passenger himself not come to the coach door to take food?

After the video surfaced, both anger and concern were seen on social media. Many users raised questions on the short stoppage time of the railways. One user wrote, “Trains can be late by hours, but cannot stop for five minutes at small stations.” While another said, “Gig workers risk their lives every day for our convenience.” Some people also asked why passengers do not come to the coach door themselves to collect food.

After the matter escalated, Swiggy also reacted on this. The company said they have investigated the incident and have confirmed that the delivery person is safe and did not suffer any serious injuries. Swiggy also clarified that as per their rules, boarding or deboarding a moving train is strictly prohibited and safety is their top priority.
