India’s favorite dish for the 10th consecutive year, the year 2025 has proved to be very tasty for the food lovers. The country’s leading food delivery platform Swiggy on Tuesday released its much-awaited annual report ‘How India Swiggy’? Released the 10th edition of. The report presents an account of food delivery trends throughout the year and the changing preferences of Indians. Statistics show that this year Indians have spent the most on biryani, burger, pizza and dosa.
According to Swiggy’s report, there has been no change in the first choice of Indian consumers and Biryani has once again topped the charts. In the year 2025, users ordered a record 9.3 crore (93 million) biryani on the platform. This figure makes it undisputedly the country’s favorite dish.
Fast food also continues its glory
After biryani, fast food was in vogue. Burgers emerged as the second most ordered item with 4.42 crore (44.2 million) orders.
Italian taste was also not left behind. Pizza was ordered 4.01 crore (40.1 million) times this year, making it third on the list. The popularity of South Indian flavors also continues. Dosa confirmed its place among the top food items with 2.62 crore (26.2 million) orders.
Demand for local food also increased
Swiggy said in its report that there has been an increase towards hyperlocal i.e. local cuisine. The most shocking figure in the report was that of Pahari cuisine, which recorded a huge increase of 9 times as compared to last year. Apart from this, orders for Malabari, Rajasthani, Malvani and other regional cuisines have also increased by almost 2 times in the last one year. This shows that people are now preferring to taste their traditional and desi flavors sitting at home.
There was demand for flavors from outside the country as well
Along with local food, foreign dishes also found a place in Indian carts. In this case, Mexican dishes were very popular with 16 million (16 million) orders. This was followed by more than 12 million (12 million) orders for Tibetan food. Due to the influence of Korean drama and pop culture, 47 lakh (4.7 million) orders of Korean food were also recorded.

More orders for dinner than lunch
Giving important information on consumer behavior, the report states that the demand for food delivery is highest during dinner time. In 2025, dinner orders were 32 percent more than lunch orders.
