Relief news for Gig Workers, Swiggy and Zomato increased delivery incentives amid strike
Swiggy Zomato New Year Incentive: Amidst the New Year celebrations, food delivery companies Swiggy and Zomato have given great news to their delivery partners. Recently, a strike was announced by the Gig Workers Union on December 31 due to low wages and lack of facilities. To handle this situation and meet the huge demand for orders on New Year, companies have announced huge incentives. The aim of this initiative is to reduce the anger of delivery partners and to keep the services running uninterrupted on the last day of the year.
Zomato’s special earning offer
Zomato has introduced a special payment plan for its delivery partners for the peak hours of 6 pm to 12 am. The company will pay Rs 120 to Rs 150 per order during this period, which has increased the enthusiasm among the employees. Apart from this, the platform has also made a great promise of earning up to Rs 3000 a day depending on the order availability.
Swiggy’s bumper earning scheme
Swiggy has provided a big opportunity to its partners to earn up to Rs 10,000 in total for 31st December and 1st January. During special peak hours on New Year’s Eve, employees will be able to earn an additional bonus of up to Rs 2,000 for just a few hours of hard work. Through this huge incentive amount, the company is trying to completely neutralize the effect of the strike.
Relief from fines and penalties
Giving relief to delivery partners, companies have currently removed all penalty charges for canceling or rejecting orders. This will completely eliminate the fear of financial loss to the partners due to irregular order flow and they will be able to work without any stress. This step has been taken to better coordinate and encourage the partners.

Union demands and strike
The Delivery Workers Union had called for a strike on December 25 and 31 demanding social security, better working conditions and salary increase. Taking a lesson from the symbolic strike on December 25, services were affected in many areas, the companies have now taken this decision. Although the union is still adamant on demanding fundamental changes, the increased incentives may allow many employees to return to work.
Quick commerce sector also booming
Not only food delivery, but quick commerce companies like Zepto have also increased incentives in view of the increased demand at the end of the year. Keeping in view the possibility of strike, these companies are spending additional budget to deliver the goods to the customers on time. In this era of competition, all the platforms are trying to ensure that there is no interruption in their operations during the New Year.
