Swing means only Digha-Purulia? Get to know these 3 best places to spend spring break away from the crowd

Want to be a ghost by painting the house on the swing day? Or will you come out a little in this two-day gap of the jamat schedule? If you have to travel in Dole, then it is not Digha or Purulia. Celebrate spring in an unknown, unknown place. These three places are not very far from Kolkata. Rediscover yourself in the red of Palash and the solitude of the sea. Here are three hidden destinations off the beaten track, free from the hustle and bustle.

Gurguripal

Gurguripal
Gurguripal is ideal for those who feel suffocated by the crowds of Santiniketan or Purulia. Located just 12 km from Medinipur city, this village is like a calm nature. In the deep forest of Shal-Pial, one can easily lose the hand of a loved one. The red dirt roads and the simplicity of the tribal villages will wipe away your fatigue in no time. Nearby are the forests of Lalgarh and the historic Ramgarh Rajbari. Mahabani, birthplace of revolutionary Khudiram Bose, is also nearby. You can reach here in just three hours by train from Howrah to Medinipur. While there are good hotels in Midnipur town for accommodation, it is wise to make advance bookings for natures camps that have sprung up lately.

Muruguma

Muruguma
Muruguma is a paradise. At the foot of the Ayodhya hills, this reservoir is like a blue mirror. In the shade of the forests of Shaal, Shimul and Mahua, the spring breeze gives a different intoxication here. The sight of exotic birds and the taste of fresh rui-katla at Murugumar Dam are not to be forgotten. Reach this secluded dam from Asansol via Adra or by road via Raniganj-Shaltora. In the evening, the dhamsa-madal bowl and the smell of mahua should fill the swing. Government cottages or a few hotels are the only places to stay.

Lalganj

Not the crowded Mandarmani or Bakkhali, this time the target should be Lalganj. Its pairings are worth it to get a taste of the secluded sea on a budget. This unknown beach will be on the way to Bakkhali after crossing Diamond Harbour. The blue waters and the calm sands are like a canvas behind the Jaubon. One can reach Namkhana by train from Sealdah and from there by auto. The experience of spending the night in a camp tent on the beach will be remembered for a lifetime.
