BCCI has announced Team India for the tour of Ireland, England and Asian Games 2026. 5 players including the captain of the team that won the T20 World Cup 2026, Suryakumar Yadav, are not in the squad.
Team India 5 players didn’t receive BCCI on June 6 announced the Indian T20 team for Ireland, England tour and Asian Games 2026. With this announcement, many big changes have been seen in Team India. The biggest decision was regarding Suryakumar Yadav, who was not only removed from the captaincy but was also dropped from the team. Shreyas Iyer has been appointed as the new T20 captain in his place.
India won the T20 World Cup title in March 2026 under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav, but despite this, the selectors have taken many tough decisions keeping the future in mind. Due to poor form, fitness management and the strategy of giving opportunities to young players, five important players of the World Cup winning team (Team India) have not got a place in the new squad.
Team India: Suryakumar Yadav on leave
The exclusion of T20 World Cup winning captain Suryakumar Yadav from the team is being considered the most shocking decision. His bat has been silent for some time now and even in IPL 2026, he could not perform as per expectations. Due to continuous poor form, the selectors have taken away the captaincy from him and handed over the responsibility to Shreyas Iyer. Along with this, Surya has been kept out of the three squads for Ireland, England and Asian Games.
Team India: Hardik Pandya and Bumrah got rest
Star all-rounder Hardik Pandya is also not a part of the new T20 squad. It is believed that the team management wants to keep him fit and fresh till the 2027 ODI World Cup, hence his workload is being controlled. Whereas fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has also not been selected for the tour of Ireland and England. However, Bumrah has been included in the team for the Asian Games 2026 and in view of the future big series, special care is being taken of his workload.
Team India: Ravi Bishnoi overshadows Kuldeep Yadav
Chinaman spinner Kuldeep Yadav is also among the players who have been dropped from the T20 team. His performance in recent months has not been as per expectations and he failed to make an impact in the T20 World Cup 2026 as well as IPL 2026. This time the selectors have shown more confidence in Ravi Bishnoi, who is being given continuous opportunities. In such a situation, Kuldeep will have to perform strongly in domestic and franchise cricket to regain his place.
Team India: Rinku Singh also did not get a place
Left-handed batsman Rinku Singh has also not got a place in the Indian T20 team this time. There were huge expectations from Rinku in the role of finisher, but he could not impress with his performance in the T20 World Cup 2026. After this the selectors decided to give a chance to the young players and Rinku’s name was left out of the squad. Now he will have the challenge of making a comeback in Team India by performing brilliantly in domestic cricket and upcoming tournaments.
