This means that Bangladesh, who did not participate in the 2026 T20 World Cup, will now be part of its own edition. The Bangladesh team was also part of the 2026 T20 World Cup, but in January 2026, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) refused to play their matches in India. The BCB requested the ICC to move their group matches to Sri Lanka or a neutral venue, but the ICC rejected the appeal citing no security risk. As a result, Bangladesh were dropped from the tournament and replaced by Scotland. However, Scotland will now have to play in the regional qualifiers.
