T20 World Cup 2026: Ishan Kishan’s half-century, India’s 92 runs for two wickets
Colombo. Batting first, India scored 92 runs for two wickets in 10 overs in the ICC T20 World Cup Group A match against Pakistan with a half-century from opener Ishan Kishan. Apart from playing an inning of 77 runs in 40 balls with 10 fours and three sixes, Ishaan also made a partnership of 87 runs for the second wicket with Tilak Verma (12 not out).
Tilak’s contribution in this partnership was only 11 runs. Ishan was bowled by Saim Ayub. Captain Suryakumar Yadav is supporting Tilak by scoring three runs. Earlier, Pakistan captain Salman Ali Aga sent Abhishek Sharma to the pavilion without opening the account.
After winning the toss and deciding to bowl, Pakistan gave preference to spinners and bowled nine overs out of the first 10 overs. However, the Indian batsmen did not face much trouble against the spin bowling and Ishan played several big shots before getting out.
India made two changes and included Abhishek Sharma and Kuldeep Yadav in the eleven. Abhishek could not play in the last match against Namibia due to stomach infection. Sanju Samson and fast bowler Arshdeep Singh have been dropped from the eleven.
Pakistan has not made any changes in its eleven. Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav once again did not shake hands with Salman during the toss and maintained the policy followed since the Asia Cup in Dubai last year.
Even after the match is over, there is a possibility of players and support staff of both the teams not shaking hands. Suryakumar had adopted a policy of not joining hands against Pakistan out of respect for the families of those killed in the Pahalgam terror attack and to show solidarity with the Indian Army after Operation Sindoor.
