T20 World Cup 2026: Pakistan vs New Zealand Super 8 Match delayed due to rain

The Pakistan vs New Zealand Super 8 match in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 has been delayed due to rain at the R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. There was a forecast of rain for the first clash of the next round between the two giants of world cricket. Once the rain stops and the field is fit for play, the officials will take a call.

Meanwhile, Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha won the toss and elected to bat first before rain started falling heavily.

Pakistan and New Zealand won three matches each in their respective groups to qualify for the Super 8 stage of the global tournament. Pakistan defeated Namibia, the Netherlands and the USA but lost to India. On the other hand, the Kiwis thumped Afghanistan, Canada and the UAE. However, they failed against South Africa. If the match is called off due to weather, both teams will be awarded one point each, which will impact their semi-final chances.

Pakistan are playing all their matches in Sri Lanka while New Zealand’s group stage games were scheduled in India, but they are now in the Island country for the next round.
