Record prize money for Women’s T20 World Cup 2026

The ICC has significantly increased the total prize money, which reflects its commitment to the development of women’s cricket.

Champion: USD 2.34 million (over ₹22 crore)

Runner-up: USD 1.17 million (approximately ₹11 crore)

Semi-finalists: Both the losing semi-finalist teams will receive approximately ₹6.56 crore.

Participation Fee: Each team will receive a guaranteed sum of USD 247,500 (approximately ₹2 crore), regardless of their performance.

Bonus for victory in league stage

The rewards won’t be limited to the knockout rounds only. To promote competitive cricket throughout the tournament, the ICC has also announced financial incentives during the group stage.

Teams will get a bonus of around ₹29 lakh for every win in the league-stage.

India eyes winning Women’s T20 World Cup title for the first time

After winning the ODI World Cup trophy last year, the Indian women’s team under the captaincy of Harmanpreet Kaur will enter the tournament with renewed confidence and hopes of winning their maiden Women’s T20 World Cup title. India is considered one of the strongest contenders for the championship.

12 teams will participate for the first time

In a historic move, the number of teams in the Women’s T20 World Cup has been increased from 10 to 12, giving more countries the opportunity to play on cricket’s biggest stage. The teams have been divided into two groups of six each. During the league stage, each team will play against the remaining five teams in its group. The top two teams of each group will directly advance to the semi-finals.
