Interestingly, the hosting of this upcoming World Cup has been jointly given to two countries, Australia and New Zealand. With the One Day (ODI) World Cup scheduled to be held in 2026, cricket’s shortest format will return to fans the following year.

Possible schedule and participating teams

Considering the weather and cricket season in Australia and New Zealand, it is highly likely that the 2028 T20 World Cup will be held between October and November. Although the official schedule is yet to be announced, the tournament is expected to start from mid-October and run until mid-November. Like 2026, a total of 20 teams will be seen participating in this tournament.

Positions of 12 teams now confirmed; Including ‘this’ names

12 teams have already confirmed their places for the next World Cup. This includes Australia and New Zealand as host countries. Apart from this, the teams that reach the ‘Super 8’ round have also got direct entry to the 2026 World Cup.
