T20 World Cup: 34 sixes, 39 fours and 499 runs…, many records made in the second semi-final

Mumbai The second semi-final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 was played between India and England on Thursday (5 March). This match, held at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, went till the last over, where the Indian team won a thrilling victory by seven runs. Now in the final, the Indian team will face New Zealand on March 8 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. New Zealand had defeated South Africa by 9 wickets in the first semi-final.

A total of 499 runs were scored in the match between India and England. This was the highest number of runs scored in a match in the history of T20 World Cup. Earlier, in the T20 World Cup 2016, a total of 459 runs were scored in the match between England and South Africa. Overall, this was the second highest high-scoring match in T20 International.     England’s young batsman Jacob Bethel scored a brilliant 105 runs in the semi-finals. Bethel has become the batsman with the highest innings in the knockout matches of the T20 World Cup. Bethel broke the record of New Zealand’s Finn Allen, who had scored an unbeaten 100 against South Africa in the first semi-final. Bethel is the fourth batsman from England to score a century in the T20 World Cup.
