T20 World Cup: Big blow to India, Rinku Singh left the team and returned home, know the reason
Chennai. Middle-order batsman Rinku Singh returned home on Tuesday due to a family emergency. Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) sources gave this information to PTI. Rinku skipped India’s training session at the MA Chidambaram Stadium here while the rest of her teammates were present during the net session.
A source with knowledge of the matter said, “Rinku Singh has returned home from Chennai due to a family emergency. He did not attend India’s practice session in Chepauk.” According to sources, Rinku’s father Khanchand Singh is admitted in a hospital in Greater Noida in a critical condition and hence the player had to return.
With Rinku’s sudden departure, there is doubt over the left-hander’s chances in India’s do-or-die Super Eights clash against Zimbabwe here on Thursday. Rinku had failed to open the account during India’s 76-run defeat against South Africa in Ahmedabad while he had scored six runs in the group match against Netherlands. Earlier, he had scored 11 runs against Pakistan, one against Namibia and six against America.
